Cultural Exchange Program in DPS, Ranchi for classes 1 and 2
Exposure to different customs and traditions heightens cultural awareness. Participants in cultural exchange programs often develop a broader perspective, recognizing the unique value of each cultural element. This awareness is instrumental in creating a global citizenry that appreciates and respects diversity. Starting this from an early age is like sowing a seed for the benefit of the future.
Keeping this thought process, Tamai Onettom India Private Limited has organized an online cultural exchange program between Delhi Public School, Ranchi(DPS) from India and Nara Ikuei Global Elementary School from Japan on 11th July 2024. The students of class 1 and 2 participated in this program.
The program was started by Nara school, Grade 1 students. They started by telling about their famous “Star Festival”. In this festival, students wish for what they want. It started with class 1 students where each student came and shared what they wished for. For example, becoming a princess, meeting their favorite animated character, wishing happiness for their families, etc. Then 2nd graders came up by reciting their favorite rhyme - 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed. It was really fun to watch them. They continued by showing kids different vegetables like red corn, finger lime, cucumber, etc and children were surprised to see how different it appeared from the vegetables of India.
Then DPS students shared their presentation by sharing the famous rivers of India. They shared information about rivers like Ganga, Brahmaputra, Kosi, Yamuna, Narmada etc. They shared why rivers play an important role in our lives and how we should work on saving them for future generations and help in not polluting them.
Then it continued with an interaction round where students learned about famous rivers of Japan too like Sahogawa, Yamatogawa, Igai river, and Saho Rivers. Students got to know about the national flower of Japan - the Tulip. They also discussed clothing, and famous food in India and Japan.
Children from both sides were delighted, judging by their joyful expressions We would like to conduct these types of programs more and more.
Looking forward to collaborating with many schools.
