Exploring Language, Embracing Culture: Japanese Learning Session by Tamai Onettom at GD Goenka School, Ranchi

In line with this vision, we recently hosted a vibrant Japanese language and culture session at GD Goenka School, led by our esteemed native speaker, Ms. Kiyomi.

The event was a celebration of learning, curiosity, and cross-cultural exchange. Designed especially for students, the session aimed to introduce the Japanese language in a fun and interactive manner while giving a glimpse into the country’s rich cultural heritage.

Immersive Learning with a Native Touch

Ms. Kiyomi, with her warm and engaging presence, immediately captured the attention of the students. She began the session with a cheerful "Konnichiwa!"—setting the tone for an afternoon filled with discovery. Through a mix of interactive games, storytelling, role-playing, and visual aids, she introduced students to essential Japanese greetings, expressions, and conversational phrases.

The classroom transformed into a mini-Japan, where each student had the opportunity to practice saying phrases like “Arigatou gozaimasu” (Thank you very much) and “Ogenki desu ka?” (How are you?). By practicing pronunciation with a native speaker, students not only learned the words but also understood the tone, rhythm, and cultural context behind them.

Creating Lasting Impressions

What made the session truly special was the infectious enthusiasm of the students. Their curiosity, energy, and eagerness to participate created a lively atmosphere that was a joy to witness. Laughter filled the room as they tried new phrases, asked thoughtful questions, and even attempted to write their names using Japanese characters.

It was heartwarming to see how quickly they connected with a culture so different from their own, yet so warmly embraced.
